THE SWITCHBACK BAMBOO CUTTING BOARD

A fitted, food-grade silicone cover wraps over the cutting area and knife of the board, keeping it secure and sanitary during travel and storage. If you've ever been camping with a cutting board, you know just how dirty they can get bumping into all your other outdoor gear. 

The Switchback's cover also acts as a sheath for your knife, keeping it locked in place during travel so you don't have to worry about where your knife might be hiding.

Finally, the cover can be placed on the backside of the cutting board, preventing it from slipping and sliding while in use.

WHY BAMBOO

The Switchback's construction begins with its bamboo cutting board. Bamboo was picked as the wood of choice for the Switchback primarily for its strength and sustainability.

Bamboo grows insanely fast, in fact, some species can grow as much as three feet in one day. Compared to equivalent tree mass, bamboo produces 35% more oxygen from carbon dioxide. This makes bamboo the perfect low-cost, sustainable, and environmentally friendly alternative to other hardwoods. 

Bamboo is crazy strong; even stronger than steel! The tensile strength of steel is 23,000 PSI, while the tensile strength of bamboo is 28,000 PSI. Seems crazy, right? However, bamboo is already used as a replacement for steel in many Asian countries with scaffolding, huts, houses, and even roads using bamboo instead of steel.

SAFETY BUILT IN

The Switchback's knife stores inside the board itself, keeping the cutting edge away from accidental contact while not in use. This home for the blade also helps to keep your knife sharp while in storage.

An inset magnet pulls the blade into its fully seated position and keeps it secure while the cover is not in use.
